I have been animal crazy for as long as I can remember, with dogs my favorites. I have watched, trained, shown, studied and learnt about dogs throughout my life. I became a professional photographer well over 20 years ago, 15 of which I spent working as the staff photographer for Our Dogs weekly newspaper, taking photos for them at most of the big UK Championship shows including Crufts. I have done work for Pedigree Masterfoods, Hills Spillers and Vitalin dog foods. My photos were also used for a number of years on the front cover of the Our Dogs annual. I have written and illustrated many articles, and several books on dogs, and am currently in charge of the "Euro and World" section of Our Dogs. I have provided photos for various magazines worldwide, have run evening classes on photography, and was the featured photographer in a Television program aimed at teaching people how to take better photos of their dogs. I have spoken at seminars on the same subject. I am owned by three Border Collies, the third and fourth generation of my own breeding lines, all coming from top sheep working bloodlines. I am a keen bird (and wildlife) watcher, and maintain a large bird feeding station in my back garden. I still photograph dogs in my spare time using a Nikon digital camera and lenses, and have a studio unit I can use when visiting indoor shows. I am currently engaged in transferring my vast library of negative images to digital, (a task that feels as if it will take another 20 years!) I am one of the founder members of the World Dog Press Association, which I believe will play an ever more important role in the world of the professional dog press, and like to help and encourage the new generation of dog photographers as they learn how to get the very best out of their subjects.
